Ms. Kovacic is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies along with her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Since graduating, she has taught multiple K-12 grade levels while student teaching and substitute teaching at Temple City Unified. Ms. Kovacic has also been an activity leader, camp counselor, and cheer coach for the city of Arcadia’s parks and recreation program for six years. Ms. Kovacic grew up in Temple City, and attended Temple City Unified Schools. At Temple City High School, Ms. Kovacic was involved in band, cheer, ASB, and Senior Service. Volunteerism and community involvement are very important to Ms. Kovacic; in 2006, she received the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in girl scouting.
Ms. Kovacic teaches grades sixth and seventh, along with language arts for grades third, fourth, and fifth. In Ms. Kovacic’s classroom, students are exposed to the wonders of ancient civilizations, and study ways of life within United States history. In science, students create and test experiments, while gaining knowledge of the natural life cycles in their surroundings. Students are challenged in many subjects to use critical thinking, apply prior knowledge, and make real life connections. Ms. Kovacic emphasizes the importance of team work and making good choices while creating a comfortable learning environment fit for student achievement.
