In celebration of 66 years of First Lutheran School of Temple City, First Lutheran Church of Temple City hosted a dinner for parents, current and past teachers, alumni, and church members. Thank you to everyone who came out in support of FLS on Thursday. The celebration dinner was a total success! Special thanks to those who helped plan the event, former teachers who joined us, the 5th and 6th graders who helped serve, and to the FLS Cheerleaders for performing. It was an evening filled with true joy and excitement!
It was a nice, warm, sunny day in Temple City, California with high in the upper 70s. Our First Lutheran Christian School and Sonshine House Preschool once again joined the annual Camellia Festival parade. This year marked the 70th Annual Festival hosted by Temple City.
It was a lot of fun! Sonshine House Preschool marched in front of First Lutheran Christian School. Parents, students and teachers were walking together and waving their hands to the audience. Our cheerleaders, which consist of students from 1st to 4th grade, performed a few routines during the parade. The audience loved their performances!
We would like to thank the parents, students, and teachers who joined the parade on Last Tunas Drive. Enjoy the short video below to summarize the parade.
On Tuesday night, First Lutheran Church hosted a Chili Fest! What a fantastic night of fellowship and fun! It was another great turn out by both church and school families. Everyone enjoyed a night of great food, a special performance by Sonshine House Preschool students, raffle prizes, and friendship!
First Lutheran School and Sonshine Preschool celebrated the end of Red Ribbon Week with an exciting pep rally organized by our Student Leadership Committee. Students were treated to a thrilling cheer performance from our outstanding cheerleaders and reflected on a devotion about anti-bully. Winners were announced for the Red Ribbon Week writing contest and both students and parents took the anti-bullying pledge.
Mr. Swanson, the school principal said, “This has been the best pep rally yet! A lot of thanks goes to Ms. Valdez and Student Leadership for planning and organizing the whole thing! Also, thanks to Ms. Kovacic and her talented cheerleaders for a fantastic performance!”
Advent takes place on the 4 Sundays before Christmas Day and is the beginning of the church year for most western churches. Advent typically starts on the Sunday nearest to American Thanksgiving and ends on Christmas Eve. There are various ways to observe Advent traditions as a congregation. This year our students sang 3 songs: “O’ Come Emmanuel”, “O’ Little Town of Betlehem”, “Hark The Angels”, “Silent Night”, and “Away in The Manger”
